All In The Best Possible Taste
As many or none of you may be aware - I am a big fan of Kenny Everett and am currently listening to two hours of vintage Kenny on Radio 2 as part of their 40th birthday radio events schedule. You can listen here live or wait until after 13:00 GMT when the listen again widget will appear. It is a must. Never before have I felt so happy to be 40. After that I might listen again to Ed Stewpot's Junior Choice - woof! woof! (that was Arnold in case you were wondering).

Cuddly Ken - an inspiration for podcasters the world over (probably) but never bettered. Why couldn't Mr Death have taken Tony Blackburn instead?
I used to be a fan of the Kenny Everett Show (and his space-faring alter ego). I once saw his car parked at the local garden centre, but didn't see the man himself (it may have been his wife using it, she did loads of seances round this way)
Ed "Stewpot" Stewart! The memories come flooding back (unfortunately). Cue annoying cockney child saying "allo darlin!"
We saw the end of the Radio 1 documentary Blood On The Carpet the other night, with Adrian Juste (the rubbish Kenny Everett) visiting his old studio. A broken man, remembering his glory days.
Stop laughing. How cruel.
Ister - well you say that Ister but believe it or not - I've worked with Tony Blackburn and he was an absolute trooper despite the most terrible wig which looked like a spatchcock rat placed on his head. He did a voice over for a tv ad for me and was fantastic...and very short. I think god should have fixed it for Jimmy Saville to be whisked off sooner than Kenny myself.
Llewtrah - yes- his wife was an astrologist wasn't she?
Betty - God I forgot about 'allo darlin'! Adrian Juste - sniggering, guffawing. Sorry - I can't stop laughing. Surely that wasn't his real name? Do you think he added the E for extra effect?
are you, by any chance, going to alabama 3?
Rivergirlie - oh - sorry - no I'm not. Are you?
yep - meeting some bloggie types in the afternoon then going on to the show. i was wondering when you and i were going to meet up. you were talking about a half term trip up this way?
xx
Stewpot and Everett (and Read and Brooks and Blackburn and Hamilton and Juste and Murray and several more) were devout Tories. Whenever anybody talks about lefty BBC bias I chuck that back at them.
(Simon Mayo is a Lib Dem. Why does this not surprise me?)
Footers - Simon Mayo is a Lib Dem and ugly and has a surname that doubles up as a condiment. I think I have said enough.
rocky!
ROCKY, ROCKY, ROCKY, ROCKY, ROCKY, ROCKY, ROCKY, ROCKY, ROCKY!
